"Make each day your masterpiece."

John Wooden's quote. Basketball coach with 10 NCAA national championships.

Most read it, nod, forget it.

But, can you actually define what makes your day a masterpiece?

To go deeper:  Define masterpiece. Do it. Assess.

2/ Try

Have you written your first 2026 post on LinkedIn yet?

Or maybe you need to write your first post ever.

Way back on 3rd May 2024, I wrote a post on LinkedIn. This week - 2nd January 2026 - it got a like.

That’s what they call “Evergreen Content”.

If you don't already know, my aim in writing regularly is to share useful tips and ideas. Things that have helped me during my career.

There's no hidden agenda, no course to sell, no offer.

So these 👍, even 18-months later, keep me going.

Yet I remember how psychologically hard it was to publish the first post. All sorts of concerns about whether I had something that was actually useful for others, and what people might think.

The post that got liked? It was about how I learn new skills.

So if you're interested in publishing on LinkedIn, or learning some other skill, it might be a useful read.

To go deeper: Here it is - my actual 6-step process for learning a new skill.

3/ Question

Doing the right thing.

The story of Paul Marshall made me think. If you don't recall the name, he's the barrister who stood up and did the right thing, risking his career and livelihood to gain justice for every Post Office victim.

It's simple, he did the right thing.

Others before him - and those involved in the scandal - didn't.

Made me wonder, when the stakes are high in corporate life, is individual integrity eroded one small compromise at a time?

To go deeper: This is a super read.  The barrister who stood alone - by Stuart G.
