Stop using time-draining account planning methods that take days?
Instead do something you can complete in hours.

A rough-cut account plan.
That way you can get on with execution.

Stripping away all the non-essentials.
Sticking to just 5 elements:

Which do you already have?

1/ A simple list of your client's challenges and objectives for the year. These may be competitive pressures or market changes, etc.

2/ A list of people who are impacted by these challenges and objectives. They are the ones most likely to be involved in a project decision, decision-makers, influencers, etc.

3/ Key results related to the challenges and objectives. Clients are interested in talking about outcomes and impact. Make a list of 3-4 outcomes, metrics, and impact to discuss.

4/ A point-of-view on how you would go about achieving the key results. This gets interesting when you can defend that PoV against standard approaches everyone else takes as gospel (tie it back to 1+2)

5/ Next actions - A list of next steps you want, that are easy to agree to, and allow you to get stuck in.

That's your rough-cut plan done.
It's easy and I have facilitated many of these as group sessions.
