Business development snippets (for reflection)

Here are some snippets I offer clients. Slow down as you read the list and you’ll probably notice a gut reaction to each idea:

  1. Reach out to your network. Find out what people need. Be helpful.
  2. Stop pitching. Learn to ask great questions and frame problems.
  3. Develop an original (signature) point of view. Believe in yourself.
  4. Stop bullshit marketing. Put your energy into winning clients.
  5. Qualify like crazy. Don't spend time with tyre kickers.
  6. Initiate. Woo and pursue clients you want to work with.
  7. Critique your pipeline. Evaluate each decision you want made.
  8. Stop taking on small projects. Set a minimum viable fee.
  9. Build a support team and free up more time for sales.
  10. Phone and text more, email less. Improve your messaging.

So, your gut reaction to each idea:

  • Which did you react strongly to?
  • Which did you immediately skip over?
  • Which did you decide to do something about?
