If you're a consultant with business development responsibilities you may want to hold yourself accountability on a weekly basis.

There's a great (free) email-based App [ getweeklyupdate ] that sends you an email prompt each week to help you manage this. It's like being your own boss, breathing down your own neck.

I've started using it for the 7 questions I ask myself every Friday afternoon.

That's it. Every week. Forty-five minutes.

It's an end of week nudge and, for me, if two weeks go by without some decent focused activity I know I'm slacking.

If you prefer a nudge at the beginning of the week there might be more suitable questions like these:

  • What progress did you make on last week's plan?
  • What do you want to achieve this week?
  • What's your plan for the week?

[ getweeklyupdate ] is fully configurable, so you can make up your own questions too.

Let me know how you get on.
