Looking for higher levels of performance?

Here's a way to stretch your team. And your leadership.

The Empowerment Challenge

1/ Give your team a tough challenge that seems impossible at first.
2/ Set standards and expectations. Show them a model of what good looks like.
3/ Then let go and avoid giving further advice. Avoid micromanaging.
4/ If team members ask for your input encourage them to find their own solutions.
5/ Empower them to seek the help of others. But also to think and decide for themselves.
6/ Watch their progress and celebrate successes when they exceed your expectations.

Many leaders underestimate their team's capabilities.

So, the most difficult part for you may be choosing a big enough challenge.
