Energy Vampires wear you down with words.
Energy Vampires wear you down with words.
Not sharp ones — heavy ones.
They don’t explode.
They drain.
They take every conversation and turn it into a storm cloud.
You listen.
You nod.
You feel your light dimming, minute by minute.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁?
Because we want to be supportive.
Because we hope they just need space to vent.
Because we think empathy means endless availability.
But here’s the truth you need to hear:
If someone keeps pulling you into the fog...
it’s okay to walk toward the light instead.
𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁:
⇢ Sit through marathon vent sessions.
⇢ Confuse empathy with emotional labor.
⇢ Take on moods that aren’t yours.
⇢ Match their vibe out of politeness.
⇢ Feel guilty for protecting your spark.
⇢ Think boundaries make you selfish.
𝗗𝗼:
⇥ Set limits on how long and how deep.
⇥ Gently redirect to clarity or action.
⇥ Notice your energy — and guard it.
⇥ Stay rooted in your own mindset.
⇥ Detach with kindness, not coldness.
⇥ Choose light. Every single time.
This isn’t you being harsh.
It’s you choosing not to sink.
Some people share energy.
Others siphon it.
Know the difference.
And step back, without apology.
Being a safe space is beautiful.
Just make sure you feel safe in it too.
