I’ve been thinking about how people grow to meet the challenges of a new role.

And how some don’t because they either won’t or can’t change.

Many stay in a place that is easy.
And so avoid elevating their performance.

Others see opportunities to amplify their strengths.
They embrace working new ways and in different situations.

Most of all they want to win and can’t stop pushing to make a difference.
And that’s embedded in their identity now and in the future-self they are creating.

Perhaps you’re settling for what you’ve got (or are given).
Maybe you're cruising along nailing low-bar goals.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Consider when you last set yourself a big fat scary goal.

- Something that absolutely focused your ambition.
- Something you had no idea how to achieve.
- Something that felt totally out of reach.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁?

If it was a while ago and you want me to write more about the tools for setting goals like that, let me know.

Reading the book, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s all about commercial business. The language is all about profit improvement. Hanan puts that at the core of client conversations.
