Impute

Steve Jobs didn’t invent the computer, he mastered the psychology of perception. His 1977 mentor, Mike Markkula, taught him a concept called "Impute." It means people judge the book by the cover. If the packaging is shoddy, the brain assumes the product inside is shoddy. Apple engineered the friction of the iPhone box to take exactly 3 seconds to slide open. That delay creates anticipation which releases dopamine but at the point of opening the product which habitually rewards at the right time. It also signals that what is inside is expensive. The positioning of the product inside, sat like a jewel ultimately gives off serotonin to the end user.
